I've haven't really paid attention in the past, but on the last two movies I've backed up (Capote & Memoirs of a Geisha), I've noticed that the actual size of the DVD differs from the folder size that DVDFab creates. I haven't actually burned a backup yet. I wanted to make sure nothing is wrong so I don't waste two blanks. Here's the info:

    Capote
    Actual DVD size - 7.95GB
    DVDFAb folder size - 7.26GB

    Memoirs
    Actual DVD size - 7.95GB
    DVDFab folder size - 7.35GB

Is that normal, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

block sizes may differ between your PC HDD and the DVD, which show up as a difference in size. Simple way to test - play them back from the HDD and see if the content is all there. You might also want to check if there was DVD-Rom content on the originals. I don't believe DVD Fab Decrypter copies that to your HDD.

  4. Hi,

Since DVDFab Decrypter will not copy the unreadable sectors which be used as protection, so that output file size is smaller than original size.

BTW, do you have problem to play the backup on hard disk with a software DVD player?

  5. also, make sure you update your dvdfab decrypter program before attempting either of those dvd's...just poking around the forums, it seems that those have relatively new copy protections on them...
