Hello I just got the AVT-8710 Time Base Corrector and I have only done a few dvd's with it and man it does an awesome job. I also have the Datavideo tbc1000 and was wondering on some of my tapes the Datavideo has the flagging error sometimes and with the AVT8710 I have yet for this to happen. Has anyone else who has it does it ever have this error. I have been using the Panasonic dmr e55 for pass through for time base correction because it gets rid of all the flagging issues that can happen with tapes and it always corrected that. I use my Datavideo tbc1000 only once in a while and since I got the AVT8710 I don't use the Panasonic anymore but the Datavideo caused this once in a while.Does the AVT then never have that problem like the datavideo and if you have both of them do you like the avt or datavideo better and which one do you have better results with? Thanks Eric

Why don't you do some test caps and post the results here? Or even better, post the results here:

I can post the test files again if you want to try it. I'd also be interested in seeing what the DMR-E55 can do. -
AVT-8710 has problem all to itself. Be careful of chroma shifting, be sure your cables are good and the unit is secure with cables tightly in place. The AVT-8710 freaks out on blue screens from VCRs sometimes, again, with the chroma shift (must unplug TBC and replug to fix it).
If you change the mini proc amp settings, remember to go back to default for the next tape.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
FAQs: Best Blank Discs • Best TBCs • Best VCRs for capture • Restore VHS -
If your source VHS has some corrupted bits, it will revert to colour bars - which is a pain in the arse. Apart from that, it is a pretty good unit to start with. Turning the sharpness "down" can reduce video grain/noise.
I have subsequently bought the ACE enhancer/converter. For a while I was using both units in a chain, but now I've taken the AVT-8710 (in my case, the CTB-100) completely out of the loop. The ACE is a terrific box of tricks. -
Hey guys thanks for your help. First of all I don't know how to post caps and the only way I can make any caps period I have to use Win DVD to take screen caps and I am unable to do anything after that. As far as chroma shifting what exactly is that? I know the terms but I dont know what it is when it happens. Thanks for thehelp.
