I have a samsung video camera and I connect it to my pc via firewire without any problem. Now I bought a jvc (HD100) and it also connected via firewire. Today I tried to conncet a sony camera (tvr310e, this is a few years ago model) and couldn't do it. Premiere says "Unable to connect to device..." Should there be a particular driver for the sony? As far as I know, you just connect any camera through firewire and it should work.

  2. Maybe Sony has to switch to certain setting to have firewire interface ?
Sony manual says you have to press play.

I've used the NTSC TRV-310 with no problems with Premiere. Can Windows Movie Maker or WinDV see it?

Maybe the camera is faulty. Try it on a different computer.
