I recently got my first dvd burner and i've been fiddling around with converting to different file types to see which one is best for me.
I'm not that big on perfect quality and i'd much rather be able to fit a lot onto one disc. It seems like divx is ideal but i guess dvd players cant read them...or at least none of the authoring programs ive used can
If anyone can tell me what i should be converting my filetypes to and maybe even a good program to use to do it (right now i use advanced x video converter but its the only one ive tried so not sure how good it is) i'd appreciate it
thanks for the help

If you want to watch it on your DVD player, then convert it to a DVD. ConvertXtoDVD is a good starter program, however if you are prepared to put in the time there are much better ways o do it.
Or you can buy a DVD player that also plays back Divx/Xvid encoded files. You don't get menus, but you can put 5 - 6 movies on a disc.Read my blog here.

If you have the VOB, IFO and BUP files, I would say you are already done. Just burn.
