AFter spending much time going thru the maze of miformation here I'm more confused than before. I have a Go-video networked DVD player and use it to play video files off my computer. It has a lot of issues. Doesn't play some files, audio and video don't match etc. etc.

I'd like your help in buying a standalone dvd player that can play the video files. i.e. play the mpeg and avi files on a cd or dvd without coverting it to a VCD or SVCD. Staright computer video files, if you will. Please let me know your opinion/s.

    Thanks much,

No dvd player supports everything that you can play on your computer.

You can get players that supports divx,xvid,mpeg1,mpeg2,wmv like
    https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers?DVDname=&Search=Search&dvdportable=&dvdchanger=&dv...Submit2=Search
    or divx,xvid,mpeg1,mpeg2,
    https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers?DVDname=&Search=Search&divx=1&dvdportable=&dvdchan...Submit2=Search

but you will probably get lots of issues with different downloaded video material.

If you want to play everything build/buy a HTPC.

The Oppo is a great player for raw mpeg/avi files. Look here: http://oppodigital.com/

If you want support for other oddball formats (wmv, rm, mov, etc.), then a HTPC or Xbox is the only way to go.

The I-O Data Linkplayer2 is also a very good option! and it is cheaper than either HTPC or XBox
