  1. I have authored a DVD with several different titles and I am wondering if it is possible to edit some of its navigation structure. Here is the situation:

    - one of the titles has 12 chapters and two menus; menu 1 is for chapters 1-6, menu 2 for chapters 7-12. Both menues have a button for each chapter.

    - I would like to have the navigation where when I press 'root menu' during title playback the DVD would navigate back to the title menu and highlight the chapter button currently played. So when, for example, chapter 3 of my title is playing, pressing 'root menu' would prompt going to menu 1 button 3; if chapter 7 is playing, the 'root menu' prompt woud be menu 2 button 2.

    - my DVD authoring program does not have an option for assigning root menu within title for each individual chapter, so the default root menu for all 12 chapters is menu 1. I would like to have menu 1 as the default root menu for chapters 1-6, and menu 2 as the default root menu for chapters 7-12. Currently, chapters 1-6 have a proper default menu (menu 1), but when I press 'root menu' during chapter 7-12 playback the prompt is for menu 1 rather than menu 2.

What is the tool to use to fix this without reauthoring DVD in another DVD authoring program? I am assuming it is a matter of editing navigation structure for the title in question, but I'm not sure what tool to use and how to do it. I am fairly new to post-authoring IFO editing (which is what I'm assuming needs to be done) so I'd need something that's fairly simple and intuitive to do. Any help is highly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I would look at PGCEdit, although I don't know how you would actually do it. This just seems the best tool choice. Failing that, IFOEdit, although that would probably be more complicated. If you are prepared to pay for a tool, DVD Remake Pro might be worth a look.

  3. Thanks for the reply. I have downloaded PGCEdit and IFOEdit and did some initial exploration. But the programs, to me at least, do not look too intuitive and require sophisticated understanding of DVD structure and its different codes/labels. I searched the forum to find some how-to guides but was unable to fine the ones that meet my requirements. Anyone out there that could sort out my 'predicament'? Thanks.

  4. Re-authoring tools require some good knowledge of the DVD spec.

Without knowing the DVD Spec you would need another authoring app to do the work you need.

    Good Luck
