Well, I have tried every setting I can think of, I have followed the HOW-TOs to the letter but everytime I try to convert a VIDEO_TS file to DivX or AVI the program chugs, bings, says "Finished" and I am left with a blank 16 meg file. I seem to not be the only person having this problem. Same problem if I an using MEncoder or QT. One choice tells me that the program does not accept VIDEO_TS input. No Macrovision. Is something broken here? Here is a read out of the latest failure:

Encoding started on Sun Mar 26 03:32:59 PST 2006

Looks like you're trying to transcode directly from the DVD. ffmpegX won't do this. You must rip the VIDEO_TS to your hard drive first.

Hmmm, perhaps you're using some strange characters in the disk name or a folder into which you've deposited the VIDEO_TS folder?

I got those binaries and re-installed the program. There wasn't a file for FFMPEGX in Libraries so I made one. Tried ripping a VIDEO_TS folder and got the same old same old crap. I really don't think I'll bother fighting with this program any more. Too many things are secret. Things that should at least be in the FAQs. I'll go back to D-Vision 3. It always works, it is fast, and it doesn't have these problems.

Major, I'm sure you fell that you have written a wondeful program. Maybe it IS a wonderful program. But we users can't read your mind. It is also a pain in the neck to wade through this forum looking for answers that should be in the manual. I wish you the best of luck with this but I'm not about to waste more time or spend money on it and I don't think I'm alone on this.

  7. The ffmpegX binaries are optimized for G4/G5. I will indeed add a notice about G3 users in the manuals. To install binaries, the menu command "ffmpegX > Install binaries" should be used instead of moving files by hand.

I am not trying to be a pain in the neck and I really don't mean this in a sarcastic manner but, c'mon, tell people these things. It really isn;t fair not to.
