  1. Thanks to a certain member on here, I'm addicted to ogame.org. Anyway, every now and then I get a dialer type thing popping up on my Norton. Sometimes it lets me delete it, sometimes it says I can't. When I can't I close everything, restart in safemode, turn off system restore and run a full scan. Nothing comes up...what's up with this? Is Norton deleting it anyway?

    It's hard to say.
Some viruses, trojans etc etc are designed to diable the AV program on the computer.
This is a great place to visit:

If the trojan/virus/infection allows it that is....they are
pretty sneaky. There must be something nasty floating around again because my Norton updated the anti-worm twice in one week.

A lot of AV programs quarantine suspect items into a "virus vault", and my thoughts are that it possibly empties this on next boot.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Its likely in your cache. Try to clear your browser cache. Also make sure your not using Internet Exploiter.

No problem. I'm only playing in Uni12 these days. Things in 8 got a little to agressive for my liking.

Norton's is over rated , considering I used to use the pro edition .

Avg antivirus not only beats norton's , but will remove them should they end up in the restore point's .

Apart from hiding in the internet's cache folder , and temp , check your program file's folder as well .

Some dialer's have been known to have there own install folder's , and the odd one or two can end up in the windows folder as well .

Next time , go to start , type the word Msconfig , click ok ... go to startup tab .

Look carefully at everything that is set to startup with the pc .

If anything look's suspicious , uncheck it , hit apply , then ok , and pc restart's .

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If after all that , it work's , then you should remove the line from that startup area .

Go to start , run , type the word Regedit ... here you will see about 5 main groups to the left in a two paned window for regedit .

Forget the first item and last item ... so 3 remain .

Do this for each item , one at a time ..

Click on the plus on first main item .
Click the plus on software .
Click the plus on microsoft .
Click the plus on windows .
Click the plus on Current version .

Now go down to those Run's

Check them out for that line that appeared in the msconfig startup group .

Left click item to highlight it , the right click and choose delete .

Repeat this for each main group

The main group's that should be checked and this applied to are :

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    HKEY_USERS

Watch this last one , it has several group's in it , and you need to check them all for than line in the Run section's .

Once done , close regedit , and it should nolonger bother you .
