  1. Ok so here's what I got and the problem.. I have a 36" destination PC monitor, a progressive scan vga converter(http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=222&products_id=4233&), and a panasonic es10 dvd recorder set to 480P. Ok so here's what happening when I watch regular cable tv through the dvd recorder everything looks cherry if I play games through the recorder it's fine but if I play dvd's through the recorder I get these lines on the left side of the screen that fade in and out. The weird thing about it is that not all dvd's do it. I put an image on here so you can see what I'm talking about. Anyone know what this is or how to fix it? I'm using monster 1000 component cables from the dvd recorder to the vga converter. I know it has something to do with the dvd player cause when I play a dvd through the xbox360 with a direct vga connection there is no problem at all.

My first guess is going to be macrovision. If that big hunk of a monitor connected to your PC? What if you play the DVD on your PC?

What kind of 36" computer monitor? Does it have other than VGA inputs?

Do you get the interference from a home made DVD or just commercial?

Did I understand you to say cable plays OK?

  4. it's a gateway destination it only has 1 vga input. Any dvd that I've recorded plays cherry. I figured it might be the macrovision but I couldn't find a way to enter the factory service menu so I could turn it off. Does anyone know how to access this menu on the panasonic es10 recorder?

Seems to be macrovision and there's no way to turn it off.

Looks like you may need a VGA switcher so you can play commercial DVDs from a computer.
