A friend of mine sent me a DVD. When I play it it's in black and white. Once ripped it plays on the computer in color. Curious as to whether it can be fixed (and if so how to fix it) and as to the cause (could it be PAL?). Thanks in advance.

  2. It's a PAL DVD because your PC plays both formats:

To make sure you can open the DVD in DVDDecrypter->IFO mode->Stream Processing

Easiest fix IMHO is to buy a Multisystem-capable DVD player, that can do the PAL --> NTSC conversion on the fly. Otherwise you're looking at a software PAL --> NTSC conversion, which, if you search the forums here, can be quite a challenge for even the most competent.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yep you can get mulitsystem dvd players for under $50 (usd) pretty much anywhere these days. It's well worth the money because you save a ton of frustration, headaches, and wasted computer processing time.

Thanks for the replies. That's kind of what I was figuring. I've read up on Pal to NTSC conversion in the past and I really just don't want to mess with it.
