Trouble cutting w/tmpg

I just upgraded my 'puter to an athlonxp1700.(Had a 900). have 512Mb ddr ram, ATI radeon all in wonder graphics card win 98SE. I have tmpg v.2.02, also tried older version, I can convert fine from dvd2avi to svcd mpg template(also using toolame), but in the past I would just go back and cut the completed movie into burnable segments. Now when I try to cut, tmpg locks up on me every time. anybody have any ideas???

Had the same problem 2 weeks ago (though under WinXP). All worked fine till it suddenly stopped....and the only problem was cut/join.
After having formatted and re-installed everything the problem was solved, but for just one session. Aftyer that....same problem. So I searchecd and searched for weeks. In the end I found a way that solved it for me (dunno whether it also works for you).
I (re)installed the ForceASPI layers and suddenly all going fine again.

i use a really old version (beta 12a). it has a minor problem with freezing during cut/join. wut you can try is when you are in the window where you select beginning and end of the cut, play the movie for a second first, then pause it (all in that window). now you can enter in start/end times for the cut and continue as usual. i have to do this everytime i want to cut/join.
