    Short Version
I need help converting a widescreen AVI file to WMV without distorting the aspect ratio. Every program I have tried converted the file from 640x272 to 320x240.

    Long Version
I just bought an iRiver PMC-120 portable media center. It only plays wmv files. You have to sync WMP 10 with the portable device and then any media files are converted before transferring. Everything was fine until I watched my newly converted and transferred AVI files on the media center. The avi files went from 640 X 272 on the computer to 320 X 240 on the portable device. The picture was extremely elongated. I tried to manually convert the AVI files to WMV with no success. I used Blaze Media Pro, Blaze Video Magic, WME, etc. to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

You must add black borders or resize to same source aspect ratio, it would be 320x136 (2.35 :1) if the iriver supports it then.

I don't think you can add borders use blaze or wme. You could use fitcd and avisynth to resize and borders and then encode with wme.
