    Hi there!

I have 5 hours of .mov files on my jvc cam (30gb harddrive). I would like to cut it using pinnacle studio.

what is the best way to convert it? Quicktime Pro?
And which format should I choose? avi or mpg or mpeg??

I intend to burn the video on dvds when I'm done with editing.

    thanks alot!

From your questions, I gather that you know little about dvd capture/editing/authoring. It helps alot, if you know a little bit about what you are doing. You should plan on spending up to 8 hours reading guides, tutorials, and forums, before you even think about deciding what to do and how to do it..

First, Pinnacle Studio might work for you, but if you read through the forums, you won't find very many people with anything good to say about it. If you do use Pinnacle Studio, it has the ability to encode to mpeg1, or mpeg2, and others. If you want your end result to be a movie that will play on a dvd player, I suggest mpeg2. If you want it on your pc, it can be in any number of formats.

If you are planning on doing much editing, you should capture it as .avi or dv-avi, edit, then encode, if you want chapter menus you will need to create those (authoring), then you can burn to dvd.
