How do u transfer DVD to computer at full screen to edit then burn back to dvd??

Every program ive tried only lets u convert to computer at like 720x 480 max screen size.

After you edit and burn it back to dvd the quality is gone because it now has to blow up the 720x480 video to full size and becomes choppy or blocky.

I dont know why this is a big deal or problem.

    Anyone have the know how???

    Thanks

720 x 480 is full DVD resolution. That is as big as DVD gets. Your playback software may be able to play it back full screen, however it does this via tricks and filters. See What is DVD in the top left corner for details.

  4. when you edit, your software most likely re-encodes the file and depending on which encoder you use and what setting you have the quality differs. give detailed information on what you use, which program etc

  5. your taking an mpeg2, converting it to something, then re-encoding to an mpeg2 again. Your going to lose quality no matter what you do. How much quality you will lose is up to software/method. Like Infratom said: Give detailed informaton on what you use.

  6. If you're capturing off DVD via analog then you're going to lose some quality. You may want to try ripping the DVD to your harddrive and then using a transcoder like Procoder to convert the DVD files, which are in mpeg2, to DV-format .AVI files which can be edited.

  7. Tools like TMPGEnc MPEG Editor
    https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=TMPGEnc_MPEG_Editor
allow you to cut DVD files without re-encoding.
If your looking at changing the content with titles and transistions you will have to re-render those parts of the video.

When you convert to AVI, what codec or type of avi do you create ? As pointed out, this is likely where you lose a lot of quality in the first place. Unless you use lossless or uncompressed, you will throw away information that you cannot get back.
