I believe you need a newer version of Nero for DL burning. I use 6.6.0.13 and it works OK. If you are backing up a DVD to DL, use DVD Decrypter. ISO Read>ISO Write. Works perfectly.

I should add Verbatim DL still seems to be the most problem free DL media.

  4. Have you looked for a firmware update for your burner?

    I would suggest that.

An updated firmware will allow you to work with newer blanks. As was previously suggested, you should also update Nero. There have been many bugs that have been fixed since the virgin 6.0 version.

  5. well here's the thing. I was using an nec nd3500a and tried a firmware update that screwed the drive up and it wouldnt work anymore....so I bought a newer drive hoping I wouldnt have to risk that situation again....but Im still stuck with 20 of these bad media Ritek discs that nec doesnt seem too recognize....was just hoping the newer drive would support it

It depends on which firmware version is on the burner. When you update the firmware, you must make sure the update version is for that model of burner. You must also do nothing while updating or you will destroy the drive. Try visiting here for the update.
