I've seen those single speaker surround sound units on the net. They were showing one on www.cnet.com the other day.
I don't think any of those would match a real physical surround sound set up. You can only fake it so much.

Thats the trick though isn't it? Getting in the preffered spot? Thats the main advantage of physical rear speakers, hearing it from multilple positions.
