  1. Been drooling over this for some time now :P
Quick backup of clients tape to minidv with all the usual jvc features we like and then output to nle via firewire / ilink.

Does anyone have one or know anything about the video signal output through firewire ? If I could output the signal to an NLE system with all the tbc, dnr and other filters running I would seriously consider this model.

    Cheers

I have the SR-VS30E (PAL) -- only arrived yesterday.
I have begun to transfer a few home videos (one from 1991, another from 1983) and the Digipure filtering and TBC are excellent functions. The quality of the picture is very good and clean to my eyes. I particularly like the chroma noise reduction.

You are able to capture directly from VHS through to the firewire port and into the PC. From there you have your DV-AVI file to do whatever you wish. I personally do not apply software filtering, and prefer the JVC to provide the hardware corrections.

For 'PAL' users this is one of the only options for a new deck with the more advanced JVC hardware corrections/filtering.

  4. teeg,

    Thanks for that info.
I have just spoken to jvc uk about the dr-mx10ek and it does not allow throughput of dv through the firewire cable, its only for dv in out control. This is such a shame as it appeared to be the unit I always wished for - quick dvd copy in the machine itself or dv out to pc for extensive editing on nle.

According to the pdf below this unit will allow the file to be output through the dv cable but jvc uk reckon it doesnt do it ? If I could have this feature I would buy one today.

Going to send an email to jvc pro to see if they are considering making one.

Can I ask you something about the vs30, does it allow you to apply all the filters to the vhs tape and then output that signal as dvi to pc or does the dvi output bypass all the filters ?

    Cheers

When the JVC hardware filtering is applied it can be viewed on all outputs.

EDIT: This model has just been discontinued. Number of sites on the internet are reporting the product as this. Might be a few around still.
