Please someone put my mind at rest. Even tried contacting FX direct for the answer but no reply; search on Goooooogle-no joy.

Episode 11 of Season 5 just aired (a 90 min double episode) and a friend said that it was the season finale!!! Please be wrong!

I have seen numerous posts that there will be 20-22 episodes etc etc as this will be the LAST Season EVER!!! What is happening?? Is my friend winding me up?? Has the show been cut short because now there's a Season 6 planned???

Please help me with a reply. Next to '24', The Shield Rocks!!!!

    Thanks guys.

i dont get it here -- but yes , that was the season final -- but not series final..

It (season 6) starts in January 2007. Michael Chiklis was on Live with Regis and Kelly yesterday morning. He said that they are pushing back the 10 episodes so that he can film Fantastic Four 2. He said that basically part 2 of season 5 can be considered season 6.

Historically, The Shield only runs about 15 episodes per season. I guess it is a bit shorter than normal. If they have 10 additional episodes to film yet, that would put them at 21 episodes for this season? Why the change from 15 to 21 episodes per season?

BJ_M and smearbrick 1, thanks for your prompt replies. Sad that Season has ended but joyous that at least 'the show goes (will) on', however it's called-Season 6, Season 5 part 2!!! Good News either way.

No its not over in the UK yet either but my cousin is coming over here from New York next month and as recorded each episode!!! Joyous times!!

Also, Lets hope and pray that '24' goes to Day 6 and the big screen version also gets the go ahead.

They have to be the BEST TV shows to-date!!

    Again, thanks you guys.

  5. I hope that The Shield doesn't end, and I also hope that it doesn't get rubbish. I'd rather see it end than turn to crap.

I've just got Seasons 3 and 4 from Amazon USA - it isn't out in the UK yet, but I needed my fix!

It was the season finale...not the series finale.

But may I just say killing off Lem was 100% pure BS

Which dumbass writer/director thought that was a good idea?

I emailed the FXnetworks and posted on The Shield's forum. That ending sucks. I also requested that they DE-Pussify Vic and make him the hardass character that was in season 1-3, instead of this "becareful" wuss.

I'm more than a little bent out of shape over the finale last night, The Shield may have made a Series Finale in the Northcat livingroom.

Not seen any of season 5 yet. Waiting for my cousin to come over from the States next month. He's recorded all episodes. We've agreed it's a guys night in; no women allowed, a few tins of beer and we're gonna watch all episodes back to back-we'll be well and truly all 'shield'ed out.

I agree that Vic needs to be the hardass he was in the first few seasons-if that don't continue then shame on 'FX' on turning a truly great cop drama to crap.

My one 'true' fix, is and always will be '24'!!! The show ROCKS! The Shield is without doubt a very close second. "So, all you studio producers out there , please don't let me 'Detox'!!!

If the FX channel could keep putting out shows like and as good as Sheild, Rescue Me and Over There, I wouldn't mind it going to a pay channel, I would pay.

Bummer about Lem. I wanted it so badly to be Cavanough (SP). I always liked Whittitaker (SP) in his roles, but now I hate the SOB! (That's some good acting or at least writing)

It is kind of a sad state of modern morality that we root for the bad guy. Call me corrupted, but that is a great show!

  9. This was suppose to be the last season of the shield. The network ordered double the episodes. The second part of the season will air next year. They're ending it on a high not unlike some shows that just fade away. Best series on TV. I'm glad they did what they did for the Finale. That is what separates the Shield from the other shows. They do things that other shows do not and that's what makes it different. I love the characters, but hope one more dies just to keep the suspense. What if Vic takes out Shane next season? That would be pretty cool if they set it up right.

Also Chitlis is going to be filming FF4 #2 later this year and they are going to try and finish up the series with the next 10 or so episodes that will air in Early 2007....

I think they really shot themselves in the foot (no pun intended) having Vic shoot another cop in the first season. Here you had this bad cop, who wasn't too bad, that you could root for. Then, he shoots a fellow cop! I think they took him a little too far over the edge.

About 7 weeks ago I missed watching an epoisode of the Shield... but it was saved on my DVR. Well the next week rolled by and I had not seen the last week yet ... so I let the DVR save it (untill manually erased). this went on till last weekend. I figured Saturday night I would watch 3 or 4... it's like crack. Once one show ended I HAD to watch the next one. Till I was up till four in the morning with no more show saved on my DVR

This seasons finally seemed off... not just Lem. This season rocked! Mackey getting Cavanaugh's ex-wife was classic! I thougth Cavanaughs' head was going to explode when he was talking to his ex-wife..." He made me ... TWICE"

Do you think Forest Wittaker should get an award for this role? I think so.
