I would like to get a small section of the audio off some of the DVDs I created, however, the DVDs were encoded with AC3 audio, so when I open the VOB on the timeline in Vegas, it only gets the video stream. How can I take the VOB that is on the DVD and extract and convert the AC3 stream into a wav file?
Thanks a bunch!

DVDDecrypter->IFO Mode->Stream Processing->Demux and select the chapter you want. Then use AC3Tool to convert to WAV.

I'm trying out your suggestion - the file that dvd decryptor created is a vob file, but it is correct, it's just the audio stream - so now my question is if that AC3 Tool is able to open the VOB that Decryptor created?

doesn't appear that that is going to work, I renamed the vob that decryptor created to ac3 and opened it with ac3 tool. When I did the analysis, it came up with all these CRC errors and didn't sound right when I played it =( Other suggestions?

Hi, just do exactly as MOVIEGEEK said, it works great, you use dvd decrypter to extract the ac3 stream, then you use the ac3tool to convert it to wav and then you can do what you want with it. I used it several times.

hmm, I'm not a guru with either program but when I did the conversion everything went fine, perhaps you should PM that moviegeek guy since he's the one that told me about how to accomplish the task, maybe he knows more about the specifics.. sorry I couldn't help more!

Free DVD MP3 Ripper from jodix.com is VERY simple to use.

Just in case it happens to you too... every time I load a file, about 9 warnings pop-up all saying 'The operation cannot be performed because the pins are not connected ($80040209)'
After closing the warning pop-ups, the software works fine.
You can then use Audacity (also freeware) to convert to WAV
