    dvdx 2.3

my mission is to get my dvds onto my archos gmini402. I can get the dvds onto my hard drive not a problem. i then use dvdx 2.3 'open IFO' select the dvd, select my detination etc.. and press 'encode'. dvdx will only encode a small clip abot 6mins long then it will stop. ive tried to encode lots of short clips and merge them but this is a mess on ond the join is messy. can i get dvdx to encode the whole film in one go. Any help would be much appreciated coz im ripping my hair out now.

I tried for several years to get dvdx to work for me but was not successful. I would recommend that you use either AutoGK or AVI.NET to convert your ripped DVD to Divx. The default settings for both programs should give a file compatible with your Archos. Many people report (and I agree) that AVI.NET is somewhat faster.

With DVDx, on the OUTPUT SETTINGS page there's a box with the MAX FRAME number in it. You have to hit the WHOLE button beside it to get the whole source file converted, otherwise it will only do the number of frames in the most recent conversion. A silly default to use, but easily missed.

Exactly....silly default and important to remember.
Every guide I have seen for DVDx also has this listed
    prominently however.
