God almighty. Sorry to spam my own thread! I am still using the Lagarith codec in YUY2 caps and running a few filters in avisynth, basically just upping the black point and increasing saturation. I am now falling in love with the program and foresee a future with a lots of children and many an evening spent gazing into the sunset. And yet, what on earth gives? I'm only able to get these plugins working by adding 'ConvertYUY2' to the script. The results are lovely, but i want to be absolutely sure i'm not moving colourspaces.. and would just like to get to the bottom of it anyway.. doesn't make sense does it. Is it possible that the driver on my capture card [Kworld dvd maker pci] is setting some flag that stops programs recognising the stream as YUY2? Or is that totally separate and down to the pc side of things?

I myself don't feel like I've reached a 100% complete understanding of colorspaces, avisynth, etc., therefore I made a conscious decision to just capture everything with lagarith (storing copies of the codec off on CD) and working out the whole postprocessing/encoding thing next year sometime

Sussed it!! Hope this comes in handy for someone.. i worked out what kept crashing me on the filters.. changing my opening line from directshowsource to avisource sorted this problem.. which i just as well as i think the conversion command was adding artefaction.. huzzah!
