  1. Hello, I hope someone can help me with my problem. Here is what I am trying to do.

I want to make a DVD video with footage from VHS home movies. I have a DVD recorder that I am using to transfer the tapes onto DVDs. I am then loading the DVD files on my computer and want to do very basic editing.
I would like to split the video files up into several clips, join them together using simple transitions, and mix music with the audio already on the video. I would also like to do basic effects, such as looping and slow motion.

What software would you recommend for basic VOB file cutting and editing. I have experimented with Adobe Premiere and it is very frustrating to use. Moving forward a couple frames takes a long time and the program often crashes on me. Premiere is great for certain file types, but sucks for VOB files. Also, Premiere has more options than I need and I think that causes problems as well.

Is there any software that offers basic functionality and editing tools and handles VOB files without too much trouble? Any suggestions are appreciated.
