I have an avi that has certain sections with multiple video streams.
    There are 3 languages.
With the codec I have installed it doesn't seem to detect this feature and plays the same section for all 3 languages. The avi requires an xvid codec, I've not managed to find an xvid codec that supports this.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Uh... don't you mean the 3 audio streams in 3 languages?

The codec wouldn't care about the multiple streams. It's the splitter's job to take apart the stream and feed respective pieces to the various codecs.

    No,

the avi file I have has certain sections where the video requires multilanguage i.e. a road sign.
when it gets to this point the video stream has 3 identical sections, but in a different language.

The codecs I have tried simply play all 3 languauges instead of just playing english.

I have never seen this before with avi files
    Any guesses?

Multiple video streams are possible with avi, but you can't have them just for sections, etc. You would need to use a more advanced container like mkv.
