  1. I tried to burn a couple of mpg videos to a VCD using Nero Express. I realize this is not the predominant software, but it is "newbie" friendly. Anyhow, while performing this operation, I got the following message " The mpg video is not VCD compliant, it will be converted during the burn process". About halfway into the encoding process, I got a mesaage that an encoding error had occured and the operation had been aborted. I tried two other discs and got the same message. Anyone got any ideas what is happening? Thanks in advance.

So, that is newbie friendly to you?
What are the specifications of the mpg you're trying to create a VCD out of, with respect to resolution and bitrate? (If you don't know, use GSpot (latest beta, 2.52 IIRC))
How did you create this mpg?
mpg video for VCD must be mpeg1, 352x240/288 (NTSC/PAL) CBR (max) 1150 kbps
Generally, use VCDEasy to author VCD. That's a newbie friendly app, because it works.
