I was wondering how I should label rewritable discs. A sharpie is permanent and I have heard that sticky labels ruin your disc. I have a little brother label maker, but didn't know if the label would come off when I burned something different or if it would ruin the disc as well. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    John

I use a Sharpie to place a code on it like RW-0603g (bought 0603 #g). Then I use an Excel spreadsheet to maintain a list of what is on the DVD-RW.

What edDV said, and you can mostly wash off the Sharpie ink with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a paper towel if needed to re-label it.

I would think dry erase would come off way too easily, and to make it worse, inside your drive/player.

  6. I think EPSON makes a regular inkjet printer that have an adapter to print on CD/DVD. I was waiting for my HP inkjet printer to die, so I can look into one. I am still waiting..

I use wet-wipe water soluable pens that are made for writing on
    acetate rolls on overhead projectors.
They don't bead up, come in many colors...and are easy to erase when I re-record
    on the disk.

I use a dry-erase marker for temporary labeling my RW discs.

I use a Sharpie and remove the ink with CD cleaning fluid when I erase the disk

  11. My vote goes to wet-erase marker or a Post-it on the jewel case.

I change the volume label of the actual disc.
