Can I watch TV and save it with this card?

I think I had this in the wrong forum. I reposted it here?


My kids tv died today. Finally after about 6 years. It was a cheapo tv, but any rate. I was thinking instead of buying them a new TV. Why not buy them a Tuner card for thier PC and try to save programs and such?

Is this an OK card?

Second, can I save programs and burn them to DVD's? My kids watch alot of spongebob and would love to be able to save thier episodes and have me burn them to DVD.. Or do I need another type of piece of hardware to save them?

I have a capture card in another PC that I can swap out into this one. Do I need to do this? Is there a program that would save the program to a file to be converted or ripped later on?

Thanks for your help and info. You see I have a Best buy gift card with $139 burning a hole in my pocket and I want to be able to do this for them!! Any suggestions!!

I believe a lot of people use this card. Look at the capture card reviews found in the left panel. Yo will need hard drive space and a dvd burner to save programs to dvd. You also need sftware, but I suspect the card comes with what you need.
