Best soft to convert DV to DVD(4.5) with a minimum loss of quality

Ok, I've read most of FAQ's, but want to hear some opinions from people who tried differnt software.
I grabbed DVtype2 avi from my Canon mini-DV cam with KINO (i use linux for grabbing).
Then, I merged some avi's with mencoder. I got about 10 GB DV videos.
Now, I'm planning to use SONY DVD architector (winXP) to create 1-layer DVD(~4.5Gb) from these DV avi files. And add some menus, etc.
Is it right decision? May be there is some soft, that could deliver better quality. I saw PInnacle, Adobe , Ulead etc.. here. Which one to choose?
I guess, it depends on a codec they use to encode avi stream into MPEG-2.. Who is the best?

10GB is less than 1 hour. CBR at around 8500kbps + audio. Any decent mpeg encoder will do the job. DVD Architect has the Sony version of Mainconcept, and it does a very good job. CCE basic, Procoder Express or Tmpgenc will also do it easily. At that bitrate, HCEnc will give you good results and it costs nothing.

DVDA wants Type2. Type2 carries audio as a separate stream. Type 1 has audio interleaved with video.



Canopus has a tool to convert.
