Hello I am fairly new to the authoring and burning of DVD's and I have finally learned on my own with some help from this site and I finally know what I am doing. I realized though that freeware on the internet is not that great at all.
My question is what is the best software for the money that will author and burn avi to dvd in one entire process? Your help and feedback is appreciated.

how about free ? Thats good value ..
look in the tools section , but TheFilmMachine is one such program -- not much in the way of authoring though ...
ulead and sony both make good all in one tools .. in fact sony movie studio is on sale right now at compusa for 10$ --"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
I would try the freeware version of DivxToDVD. If it works for you, the newer paid version of ConvertXtoDVD might be one choice to look at.
That said, the individual programs are the best for quality and control. They require a higher learning curve, but they are much more flexible.
I commonly use TMPGEnc for encoding and TMPGEnc DVD Author for authoring. If you need to edit MPEG, then MPEG-VCR or for a few more dollars, MPEG Video Wizard are two good editors. Just my opinion.
