I ran CrapCleaner for the first time a few days ago and it flagged all my '*.BAK' files (except Config.BAK) as junk, including System.BAK. I read on several web sites that you're not supposed to ever delete the Config.BAK or System.BAK files. So, what is the correct answer?

    hi,
my opinion.....keep the config and system bak files...
*.bak files as a rule are just copies of files that were made when the orginal was changed for some reason..... generally you can delete all *.bak file and nothing will happen to your system!!!
HOWEVER.... you may want to keep certain bak files just in case the orginal goes bad or get delete for some strange reason....
myself i would keep the config and system bak files!!!!!!!! .....
more than once either my own system or when i was trouble shooting another.... that bak file came in handy to have... in order to replce the orginal corrupted bak file......

  3. If you can re-create them by hand or have another copy, then delete them. If not, then don't.

Thanks for the inputs. To be safe, I won't delete the two files.
