    hi there,

    I managed to join a movie in 2 AVIs with AC3 audio with Virtualdub very fine. WMP can play the appended AVI from beginning to the end very well, no any audio problem.

    But when I did the same to the movie in 2 AVIs with DTS audio with Virtualdub, error occured to play the appended AVI when it reached the "joint-point" (the end of 1st AVI and the beginning of 2nd AVI). Movie kept on playing but no sound at all.

    What I did when the movie play almost reaching the "joint-point", I paused it and moved forward, then the movie can continue play with sound and no error occured.

    When I checked the Stream list in Virtualdub, it shown the audio stream as "tag 0x2001, unknown", but I already have AC3Filter installed.

    My question is;

    1. what codec or filter to install in order to have Virtualdub recognise DTS audio ?

    2. is that a software can join 2 AVI w/ DTS audio without having to do any thing like re-encode, demux..... ?

    thanks in advance.

    I can demux/mux less/more audio stream into AVI with avimux gui but doesn't seem any option to join 2 AVIs into 1.

    can you tell how can I do with it ?

    Just add the two avi's, select them both and then create date source and save.

    hi celtic_druid,

    I tried as what you said but no luck. the final output avi is not playable in WMP.

    here is how I did it with avimux gui;

    1. added the 2 AVIs file into avimux and selected both
    2. click on the "generate data source from files"
    3. click on the "start"

    please correct me if I did it wrongly. thanks.

    Maybe you saved an mkv and don't have an mkv splitter installed? Could also be some of the advanced avi features which ms' avi splitter doesn't support despite the fact that ms wrote the avi specs which AVIMuxGUI is following. You could try loading the standalone AC3 profile.
