I have sent an .wmv file too my mate who has trouble trying to see it on his computer. When he had windows media player 9 he couldnt see it at all but could hear the audio, so I told him to upgrade to WMP 10 hoping this would add the codecs needed. Now he can still hear the file no problems but can only just make out bright areas of the video. The rest is too dark to see.

The files properties says it uses video codec Windows Media Video 9.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

    TIA

Thanks Baldrick, changing the video settings in the card did the trick. Im puzzled as to why they were set so low in the first place though as he had never touched these settings. I installed his card for him the same time I did mine (Both Nvidia GEforce FX 5200) and I didnt have any problems with the video overlay settings.
