I would think every anti-virus with on demand virus scanning (scanning every file you open) will slow down your box. I see no way around that fact.
Also I agree with Faustus on software firewalls. False security IMO. If a software FW is detecting something out of order is going on, it's already going on in your computer. It's at best just another (thin) software layer to penetrate.
Only good thing is that it alerts you to what is going on on your side of the NIC - what app tries to act as server, connect to Internet & c.
Use a hardware FW or a dedicated computer with FW software (not running Windows).

I do have a hardware firewall. I just like to use both so I can see what programs are trying to connect to the net that I don't want connecting.
As for slowdown, yes I agree they will cause slowdown, there is just one program in particular that has massive slowdown with everything so far except TM. I'd imagine the program itself is the issue. -
What version of Trend Micro are you guys using on your business PCs? I've got a trial of PC-cillin 2006 installed now that seems to do quite well. I'm not sure if I need a better solution for business or not.
