    Hello,
I have a Plextor PX-M402U USB 2.0 Capture device with MPEG 1,2 and DivX Hardware encoding. It will only capture Divx into an .avi container using .mp2 or .mp3 Audio. I would like to play back these captures on my iPod which will only accept .mp4 or .mov files. I have tried "Super" and "Videora iPod Converter" and they both want to re-encode the video and audio. Is there any progs out there that will convert the audio only and mux the existing DivX video into an .mp4 container??

mp3 in mp4 is perfectly spec compliant. Somehow I don't see the iPod decoding it though, despite the fact that it can obviously handle mp3 and parse mp4. Worth a try I guess.

    Try mp4box / yamb.

To re-encode the audio and direct stream the video, try ffmpeg. As I understand it the mp4 output is now spec compliant including AVC.

I use ffmpegX (the OSX GUI to ffmpeg) to convert my AVIs (movs, mpeg#'s, etc) to H264 and sometimes "plain" MP4. You might also try MPEG Streamclip (available for both OSX and Windows).

Once converted (faster than real-time on a G5), the iPod is quite happy playing them.
