  1. I have downloaded 2 seperate movies, by different producers, already in correct format (SVCD) for burning. Each movie has 2 files - labelled CD1 and CD2. One movie is cue/bin and the other is in mpeg format. I am using Verbatum CD-R Discs 700MB 52 x Speed.

    First Movie - CD1 = 795 MB MPEG FILE

    Second Movie - CD1 = 810 MB BIN FILE

In both cases when burning i get a "Insufficient room on media" error.

Can anyone help me solve this, Its driving me crazy. I know other people who have downloaded and burnt these files without any problem whatsoever. Is it there anything i can do (simply) to make them fit?

  3. Nero Burning ROM:

For bin/que use Recorder -> Burn Image...

For SVCD MPG use the File -> New -> CD -> Super Video CD template.

Thank you for your suggestion - can you please tell me how this software will help me - presumably it differs in someway to Nero?

I dont want to sound unappreciative for your post - but - I do know how to burn images and mpeg files using Nero. The problem is that it does not happen because of the insufficient error. Am i doing something wrong, have i perhaps altered something that is stopping it from happening? BTW my version of Nero is somewhat older than yours (Version 5.5.8.2)

Under Nero, if you look at (I think) Preferences, there is a setting under Advanced where you can set the maximum size of a CD-R for overburning. It defaults to 79:59:01 or something like that. Change the maximum value to 82:00:00 and it should enable you to burn CD1 for sure and maybe CD-2. CD-2 may really be too big, but you can try and see if you can overburn it. When overburning, try not to record any faster than 4x speed if possible. If your burner won't go as slow as 4x speed, then go as slow as it will let you to burn it. The faster you do an overburn, the more likely you are that it will fail.

i couldnt really tell you exactly -- but i know it just works (after all - cdrwin is where the bin/cue format came from) - without overburn

I've burned quite a few SVCDs with NERO 5.5x that exceeded the 700MB size of the media. Under 'Recorders', select 'Burn Image', then select the 'CUE' file. It will burn in Mode 2. You can easily get 830MB on a 700MB disc. All of mine play fine. Mode 2 eliminates the error correction tracks on the disc and frees up quite a bit of room. This is more or less the standard procedure for BIN/CUE SVCDs. You don't need 'Overburn'.
