There are hundreds of posts on how to convert from PAL to NTSC. Search will find them. The most popular method involves a program called DGPulldown, however I don't know of a method that preserves the entire disc. Most just convert the movie and you have to re-author yourself. Search and you will find plenty of options.

NTSC vs PAL is not the cause of your AR problem though, and may not fix it.

You can buy a DVD player that will play a PAL DVD but output it as NTSC.

In the "old days" many players that did this did it incorrectly so that you got an image that was "stretched" making everyone seem too tall and thin. At least that is what would happen if the PAL DVD was anamorphic widescreen. The same DVD palyers would slightly "squash" the image (make everyone look slightly too short and fat) if the PAL DVD was not anamorphic widescreen.

It sounds like you have such a DVD player.

So you have 3 choices ...

1.) Buy a new DVD player that does proper PAL to NTSC conversion.

2.) Use the TV OUT function of your computer's video card assuming your video card has that feature and it is a NTSC output. I believe that video cards with a TV out are either NTSC or PAL depending on what version of the video card you have (i.e., if bought in the USA it should be NTSC out if bought in the UK it should be PAL out).

3.) Re-encode the PAL DVD to NTSC format however this can be tricky to do just right but there are some guides on doing this.

Before going into any more detail on either of these 3 points I have to ask ... which way do you think you want to go?
