well like i said - i had I had 105bhp/litre in my '88 M3 (non turbo) , which had a 4cyl engine ..
The amg merc 55 gets about 100bhp/litre -- though it is a twin turbo
The STi gets 140bhp/litre stock ...
In 1951, with Alfa Romeo's 1.5 litre 159 F1 racer, powered by an engine which was good for a whopping 260 bhp / litre
The current M3 gets 105.7 bhp/litre
Get this though -- Toyota's stock 1.8-litre VVTL-i engine on the euro celica in '99 and 2000 a high power per litre (106.7 bhp/litre compared with the 103.3 bhp/litre of the exotic McLaren F1)..
I wouldn't mind a Audi RS 4 -- they look pretty sweet ...

Yeah, it's torque that those big American V8s have. I bet the speedo in that thing keeps climbing at a constant rate and very quickly, too. Isn't it torque that is responsible (or mostly so) for the top speed, too?
I'll need to go over the maths again to see where I've fallen down. I see what you're saying - I did bring it right back to bhp/litre, but in a different way... -
speaking of nice cars -- take the virtual tour of this house here (it is for sale if interested) and look whats parked IN the house - as well as in the garage/basement

That's really just a Nissan cab-over truck. They ripped the bottom off, placed the track & a new transmission system in it. Even uses the original steeringwheel. The speedometer goes up to 80MPH, though they say it goes 60-70MPH. I've physically seen this back in NY. It really is cool.
They used the new transmission in a Nissan Race Car to test it out. Check out the site and view the trailer. It's all way cool. -
i'm in the process of getting one of these:
