Hi there,
I have a problem with an XviD file I am trying to convert to DVD. I am trying to load it in Virtualdub to export the audio as a WAV. However it is not recognising the codec for the audio. In file information it says:
Unknown (tag 0055)
So I loaded it in GSpot and it said the codec was:
0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
It also said that 4 compatible codecs were installed. But they just seem to be for decoding and not for encoding. I have no problem encoding MP3 sound usually.
I have tried using another program to extract the sound but it exported at 44Khz and so was out of sync when I encoded the two streams together.
Can anyone suggest another tool for extracting the audio, or where I can get a suitable codec for this file.
Cheers.

seems to be a common problem, I haven't seen any solution. see https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=291247&highlight=0055
