  1. Just bought this at Costco. Have transferred a number of vcr tapes to cd with not a problem. Now trying to play an avi xvid file on it and it says no disc. Normally I would convert to a dvd with software but thought this was supposed to play xvid files. Am I right or wrong? What do you do to play xvid files on this player? Do I leave in avi format?

Maybe I am burning it to the cd wrong. Would someone please tell me how to get this to view on my tv from my cd player or how do I burn it or do I need to convert it. When I purchased the cd player I thought I could play an avi Xvid file in it with no conversion. Was I mistaken?

I read the book and it something about registering. Any help would be appreciated.

  3. I read the book and made it as it said into a data file on a dvd. I used Nero the first time and NTI the second. Before getting this recorder/player I would convert the files to dvd vobs but this would save me a lot of time if I can play in xvid/ or other formats.
I have made dvds on it flawlessy and also played vcds on it.
I also can not get it to recognize the vcr+ but that might be a function of how it is connected.

I have my vcr conncected to the tv. In order to play any cd on the player I have to go to Video 2 and can not watch it on my regular channel. The player is set to channel 3. The only way I can record from the tv is to set to video 2.

You should just be able to burn the files as data onto any disc. You may need to ensure the session is closed when burning.

You can also download and burn the test cd from here to verify which types of files work on your unit: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

  5. You are right!! I tried it again with NTI CD maker and it worked. For some reason Nero did not work. My dvd recorder/player will play divx/etc. Joy has come to the world.

Thank you all for the help.
