Those files you are asking about are just info on the settings Shrink used to process a DVD. They are usually in your Documents and Settings folder. You have to use folder options to show hidden files and dig around a little to find them. They don't take up much space, a few hundred K each.

The biggest hard drive resource hog is Internet Explorer. It can use several gigabytes of file space in it's temporary folders. Delete them first.

And you should right click on your hard drive and look in 'Properties' to see how much free space you have. I would never let it get below 10% or 10GB, depending on your drive size. And defrag the drive occasionally.

All that said, if your computer is running slow, it's probably from programs running in the background, not insufficient hard drive space. Open Task Manager and see what is running and how much space and memory is being used. Do some virus and trojan scans also. They can really slow things down.

Also, when you post a question, please use a descriptive title that is related to the details of your question. "not sure if this is the right place but where do i go to clear out my ....." is not one. Try something like"How to delete hidden Shrink files?" or similar. You will get more replies and your subject can be searched for. Thanks.

  3. Crap Cleaner can get rid of junk, delete temp files, stuff DVDShrink accumulates, likewise for other programs, etc, etc. Careful with the "Issues" tab, that involves the registry.

An easy way to locate the Folder you are looking for:

    1. Double click on Drive 'C',
    2. Double click on the folder 'Documents and Settings'
    3. Double click on the folder 'All Users'
    4. Double click on the Application Data Folder
    5. Goto 'Tools Menu' and select Folder Options.
    6. Select the View Tab and then check 'Show hidden files and folders'
    7. Double click on the now exposed hidden Shrink Folder DVD Shrink.

Delete all the files within the Folder with the exception of 1. There is 1 file loaded when Shrink is installed, I can not remember off hand the full name of the file however it does contain the number 915 within it.

    Hope this helps.
