  1. Hi,

Im willing to hide a logo on a TV capture. The logo is in the upper black boarder, so it's quiete easy to hide it.

I don't want to re-encode the video, so the DeLogo solution isn't the one Im looking for...

Ive read here and there that a trick would be to use a black .bmp as subtitle to hide the logo.

I tried to do that, using a red boarder (like with DeLogo) and DVDlab PRO. Ive set just one subtitle during the whole video, but the subtitle disappears whenever I change the chapter or even fast/back forward (Tho, it stays if I let the video running from the beggining).

Then, I tried to set a subtitle for each chapter using frame index to be as accurate as possible. The result is a little better, since there is no logo except when fast/back forwarding and like during 1 sec between 2 chapters.

Does anyone succeeded in the subtitle trick, and if so could help me with the tools/parameters used?

    Thx

I don't think most players show subtitles during FF or REV. It's nothing wrong with your idea or your authoring - it's up to the player to decide when and if to render the subtitles. I guess it's even be possible to turn the subs off altogether with the remote?

  3. I agree, but when I go back to normal play, the subtitle doesnt come back, that's what i meant sorry.
Plus, when i try to get them back via the remote, it says subtitles on, but my 'patch' doesn't show up :S

If anyone know another technique to hide a logo without quality loss, Id be glad to hear it (unless it's a geek 50 steps technique).

  4. Add your black subtitle every few seconds throughout the video.

A subpicture cannot cross chapter "borders". Put one that ends at the chapter point and one that starts at that same point.
    ICBM target coordinates:
    26° 14' 10.16"N -- 80° 16' 0.91"W

Ah, yes, and after a FF, the player waits for "next" subtitle to appear, and since there is no next, it won't show again. Like when you turn the subs on with the remote - it doesn't come up instantly, but when the next subtitle is displayed.

That's what I did, and it ended up that the logo appears for a few seconds between 2 chapters (and I used very precise timecodes like 00.00.00.00 to 00.05.51.06 then 00.05.51.06 to 00.11.11.01 etc...)

The basic idea would be to delete the chapters and create a subpicture from the start to the end, but Im authoring a concert DVD, so you get my point...

I think Im gonna give up on this
