    Hi everyone:

I used the forum's guidance to add a permanent subtitle to my AVI and got this following strange result.

The original AVI file (1.4GB) was flawless. I watched the entire file and it was just as perfect as it could be.

Then following the guidance, I used VirtualDubMod to add a permanent subtitle to it. The image of a part of the subtitled file (approximtely 2 minutes) was blurred, although the rest of it was perfect.

I repeated the whole process and got the same result.

My original AVI file, as I said earlier, does not have any blurred part.

I followed every step in the guidance to the T.

Would someone please tell me what might have happened?

    Thanks

  2. Maybe the video compression you used was bad. To add permanent subtitles to an AVI you have to have Video in Full processing mode and to choose a compression method (DivX multipass in 'slow' mode is the best one, but maybe you didn't use it).

Are you forced to make a new AVI file?
You might create a DVD with selectable subtitles.....

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I am trying to use AVI2DVD. The version I currently have is a 3.1 beta version. It keeps telling me that the required disk space is +9 GB (for a 700-MB AVI file!) and it keeps crashing in the middle even though I have 20GB disk space.

Yes, I did use the "full processing mode" and chose "DivX 5.2.1 Codec". The strange thing is that only the same portion (less than 30 seconds) of the subtitled AVI was messed up. The rest of the new file was OK.
