  1. I always had divx codec on my pc, but then i dloaded virtual dub and it said that it could'nt work without divx being uninstalled, so i uninstalled it and got xvid instead, but now, i've reinstalled windows and installed divx AND Xvid, my brother said he's got the both of them on his pc and it works fine, i have not installed virtuall dub yet, and i'd like to know is it possible to work with virtualdub with both Xvid and Divx installed?

also i'd like to know do i really have to get VirtualDub virtualDubmode and vertualdub - Mpeg2 installed, or vertualdubmode and the Mpeg 2 r enough?

I have both Divx 6 and the latest Xvid codec and I have no problems with VirtualDub using either.

I use VirtualDub Mod most of the time, and occasionally VD 1.6. They will also coexist with each other with no problems. VD Mod is more versatile, IMO.

If either codec doesn't show up under 'Compression' in VD, you might have to reinstall them, but I've never noticed that problem.

I think that error only came up when trying to use the original DivX (3.11), as Phaeron had it classified under the 'hack' codecs that could cause problems. DivX 4/5/6 and XVid should coexist peacefully - and work in VirtualDub - with no problems.
