  1. I can install Avisynth 2.50 but I can't install 2.56. I get a "could not write to registry" error. I'm the Administrator so I shouldn't have a problem. Anyone know of a solution? I've searched and found others have had the same problem but can't find a solution.

  2. I figured it out myself. I had to use regedit and search for everything that related to AviSynth. I then set permissions to full for everything I found. It was time consuming but when I finished Avisynth 2.56 loaded ok.

I'm having the exact same problem. I'll try your solution. Did you just search for "avisynth" throughout the registry?

Since that is the installer used, that is the list of keys it needs to write. Those are the only ones that you would need to check.

I just had to reinstall windows and I also encountered this problem with v2.56 and v2.55. I installed v2.54 with no issues, then installed v2.56 normally. VERSION() shows 2.56 being the current version.

I think that most people don't notice this, because they had a prior installion (thus, the proper registry entries). Maybe this problem only shows to those who must do a virgin install.
