  1. Hi All

I am trying to capture a still image from my camcorder. I capture the footage via premiere pro 1.5. When i have done this and look at the footage in the timeline I cannot find an option to capture a still image. Fisrt of, can you capture a still image? If so, how is it done?
My main aim is to choose the image send it to photoshop for it to be enhanced for best quality.

    God bless premiere pro 2.

So it sounds like you captured your video, to your computer. Im not familiar with the program you are using, but I know you can download a free trial of Power DVD, and there is a button right there that says capture frame. Its quite convienent.

Since the resolution of the video is probably only 720 x 480, just make the preview window that size and do a screen capture.

@ josel: No need to fart around with PowerDVD or making the preview window huge.

The simple answer is "Yes, it can be done", and here's how:

    1) Set the timeline so that the frame you want to capture is showing in the preview window.

    2) File -> Export -> Frame. Click "Settings" to choose between Bitmap, GIF, Targa or TIFF. Choose your destination and save.

As you're wanting to toy with it in Photoshop, I'd recommend a bitmap - it'll be a big file, but it'll be the best quality as there's no compression. You can save to other formats from Photoshop.

As you're in the UK, you're in PAL-land. The resolution of the frame will be 720 x 576. If you try to make it any bigger than this in Photoshop you're likely to run into blockiness and "large pixel" issues.
