    Ok, this is weird!

After my friend showed me how totally excellent SVCD2DVD is I decided to get it myself.

However, I seem to be having some issues which I don't understand.

It starts up and after the splash screen I get:

    Version: SVCD2DVD 2.0
    Build: 2.0.2146.38069

    Type: System.ArgumentException

    Source: System.Drawing

    Message: Invalid parameter used.

    InnerException:

StackTrace: at System.Drawing.Bitmap..ctor(Int32 width, Int32 height, PixelFormat format)

Close that window, carry on building the video stuff, adding assets etc etc.

Click the button to make the DVD and I get another error, actually a series of them, here's one:

    Version: SVCD2DVD 2.0
    Build: 2.0.2146.38069

    Type: System.NullReferenceException

    Source: SVCD2DVD

Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I asked Chris via email about this on Thursday night and he sent me a new build on Friday morning (I have to say I'm damned impressed at your level of support!!) but that did the same thing.

I've currently got installed the version that works for my friend - thought that might be the answer, but no

I've got .NET 1.1 and SP1 for it installed. I've tried uninstalling SVCD2DVD and .NET and putting the whole lot back on, to no avail.

I thought I might have had an answer last night, I have a beta of MSN messenger, so I took that out too - thought that had a relationship with .NET. Nope, no difference.

Dunno, run out of ideas here and I'd like to think that I'm not a total computer numpty (having worked in IT for 15+ years...).

Any suggestions short of totally re-installing windows gratefully received...

Can you try the latest version on the website (v2.1) and if that doesn't work can you post the error again?
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

Ok, here we go, previous ver uninstalled, new ver now on, same (type of) error.

This is on startup after the splash screen (or maybe even *caused* by the splash screen as the splash screen remains with a seperate icon on the task bar (with a little blue, yello and red squares icon *as well as* the normal footbal icon thing)

    Version: SVCD2DVD 2.1
    Build: 2.1.0.0

After adding some assets to a test job and clicking "make quick DVD", I get:

Ok. Can you "reset to Factory defaults" in the settings and then close the program and restart?

    Aha!

    Got no error this time!

Some rubbish thing in the settings or corruption in the settings?

Thanks Chris, you are a star!
