    Hi,

I have latest version of FFMPEG thanks to celtic_druid

I tried to convert AVI to RMVB but the image is very bad (vcodec rv20) ...although I used the lowest frame size - sqcif or qcif, I tried also to increase the bitrate...same result

I don't know what codec I must use to encode audio for RMVB either

What can I do ? I want to use a freetool and with command line support

I could have swore that Real used to give out their stuff for free? Not any more, I guess.

You don't have to use RealAudio as RMVB's audio. RMVB accepts MP3 audio too.

Technically RV20 would just be rm, not rmvb.

Real do provide a free commandline encoder, it is called helix producer and will let you encode the video as RV9 EHQ (aka Real Video 10) and the audio as aac. Supports input via direct show so it can handle just about anything.
