Has anyone been able to play multisession DVD R discs on the DVP642? I've only tried DVD-R, and the player will only read the first session. Being able to play all sessions would be helpful, since I rarely get 4 gigs of video at once, and I usually burn things in 1-2 gig batches. Thanks for any help.

I do this on a LiteOn 2005 using DVD+RW media. DVD+RW media doesn't need to be finalized so if your player reads +RW media, I suspect this will work for you - It's worth a try.

Hi
It's not just the Philips DVP642. Many standalone DVD players do not play multi-session DVD-R. I use Nero to burn all my DVD (data & video), whenever I burn a multi-session discs, Nero will give a warning that the disc may not be played properly by a DVD player.
Either you will have to wait until you have +4GB to burn your disc or to take a chance with another software/hardware. -
Use a DVD+RW or -RW to burn your video files. I am using DVP642 too, it do support multisession DVD+RW/-RW disc, I did for many times.
