  1. Several Reg1 US dvd have only closed caption (no regular subtitles) that can be watched on NTSC US equipped Tv sets or via several PC softwares!
Is there any way to capture the video shown on PC (showing CC) in order to make a proper DVD with the CC overimposed?
    or
extract these CC's and convert them in regular subtitle to add later to the copy of the DVD?
    Thanks

Use VSRip to extract the CC's from a DVD. McPoodle has tools to convert this raw data form to a readable text form.

Use the "SEARCH" tool, as it really can be your friend.

  3. Dear SLK1
above all thanks for suggestion, but first of all I need to apologize for my poor english (being italian)!
I've been looking extensively for this help here and generally on the search motor but until today I've found nothing of the sort (I'v tried several software that promised to do so.. but they did not).
Vs Rip works but being a newbie (and not really interesting in video editing) it needs a lot of work (for me) to get the final result!
My MAIN problem is just to make a copy of US closedcaptioned DVDs with the caption overimpressed... so the best software for this aim would have been a kind of "screen capturing" software in order to make a digital copy of the video (mpeg avi or any other compatible format) with the captioning in evidence...
Probably such a software does not simply exist ... or (very likely) as a dummy newbie I'm NOT able to find it!
By the way thanks for your help; If I do not find a software that does the "task" just described I'll try to go through the way you suggested
    Thanks again

Not sure what "a lot of work" for you means.

If you got the CC extracted into IDX/SUB, then you only need to load VOBSub, point it at the IDX/SUB, and hit PLAY, and there's the CC superimposed. You can even re-author the DVD with the CC as selectable subtitle. Or use one of the guides here to create permanent "hardsub" (i.e. superimposed on the video permanently).
