I would start by reading the sticky at the top of this page )or https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=189187 if you are too lazy to look). It contains much of the combined wisdom on tmpgenc common problems. Freezing is near the top of the list.

Direct show Reader is already at the highest priority and is set to 2. As far as I can tell there seems to be no problems with thr rmvb files as I have tried to load numerous different rmvb files.

Have you tried opening them through avisynth ? You might have to install real alternative, then open them using directshowsource(). This way, tmpgenc sees them as uncompressed video.

Well I already got real alternative installed, I've tried like 5 versions and I also have real player 10 also installed . I've been installing and uninstalling both because I read people say you shouldn't have both of them installed but that didn't really matter because it didn't solve my problem so I have them both installed. I got avisync installed but still same crap from tmpgenc. Its not just the freezing part that is pi$$ing me off, the tmpgenc sometimes doesn't even run and I have to keep on clicking on it like 5-6 times and then it would sometimes crash when running. I don't know if this has any compatibility issues with amd dual core cpu's because the program works perfectly fine on my laptop thats using a centrino cpu. I've basically given up on tmpgenc. I've been trying to find solutions for the past 2-3 weeks with no luck.

I also forgot to mention alot of the times when I click it to open but it isn't displayed on my desktop but when I go to the task manager it shows tempgenc as opened and I would need to close and open tmpgenc till I can see tmpgenc on my desktop.
