  1. Sorry for the newbie question in advance! I already weeded through the FAQ's and forum, but found no answers related to my questions, so- here goes:

I finally figured out the whole AVI-MPEG->VCD stuff. Works great. Now, I want to erase some of my older movies to write some more. when attempting to "erase the CD-RW discs, they are no longer read by my cpu at all. I have tried Nero, Adaptec, etc to erase but no luck. Am I missing something obvious, or are the CD-RW discs in a sense CD-R limited when burning VCD formats.. better yet, is there a tool out there that will reformat the CD-RW disc? As you might can tell, I'm lost and need a clue TIA Shugz

  2. if they are not being read by your drive...then something is wrong with the drive, ide cable, ide controller, or motherboard....if they have previously burned material, then they should show up in windows explorer...if they show up there, then you simply chose the erase-rewritable disk option in Nero.

  3. Ok- More info (weird , but more!) It turns out that every disc that I have burned with Nero is deemed "unreadable once I am done writing the VCD to the CD-RW drive. The DVD-ROM drive in my cpu can read the disc, as can my standalone DVD player, however, the CD-RW drive thinks it is bogus. What am I missing? Is their a way to format these puppies once they are made into a VCD capable disc? Uggh! I'm clueless!

  4. That is strange. May be something weird about your CD-RW drive. Can it read any CD-RW discs you make, or is it just having trouble with the VCD's .

You should be able to erase them in nero using Recorder/Erase RW in the menu. I've done it before. But if your drive can't read the disc, it may not be able to erase it.

I'd do what the other poster said, check the cables and such. Make sure your master/slave settings are right and check your drivers and such.

    Good luck.

  5. Sounds like a drive problem. I have been writing, erasing, viewing movies, and re-writing with Nero.
